Jeneen Hartley Sago is a Program Officer for Family Philanthropy Advisors providing program guidance, management and technical support to grantees and projects important to Family Philanthropy Advisors and its clients. Jeneen joined the firm with thirteen years of experience in the fields of education, non-profit program development and public policy. She has strong grassroots experience with organizational development, education and education reform and community communications. Jeneen is highly skilled in developing strategic partnerships to build efficacy and capacity in organizations which is a major asset for the firm’s clients in leveraging their programs and grant making.
Prior to joining Family Philanthropy Advisors, Jeneen reformed and rebuilt the auxiliary education programs at Breck School, an independent college preparatory school in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Jeneen has also led the development and the operations of a multi-age charter public school in Florida and urban youth center serving immigrant teens in Seattle, Washington. She was active in the 1996 national welfare reform debate in Washington D.C., researching and reporting on legislative action for a consortium of national human needs organizations.
Jeneen is a graduate of St. Olaf College and holds a B.A. degree in American Racial and Multicultural Studies and Studio Art. She earned her Masters Degree in Education from Harvard University and has ongoing training in strategic philanthropy.
Jeneen is an active member of her community. She has served as an advisor to the Citizen Advisory Council dedicated to guiding the redevelopment of the Mississippi River and she volunteers for local political campaigns. She is an advocate for the Twin Cities art community. |
